Class of 2012 - Graduation Week Kick Off!

The Indian Hill Athletic Department and Indian Hill Boosters kicked off graduation week for the Class of 2012 with the 33rd annual "Hall of Fame" ceremony on Sunday, June 3.  The senior class was presented to the IH coaching staff and their top three memories of participating in athletics was shared with the audience.  The 2011-12 state qualifiers were celebrated for their achievements.  Special awards were given to the OHSAA Scholar Athletes - Kathleen Heinbach and Tommy McClure; the Suzie Vockell Memorial Award - Rachel Ballish; the Bill Minturn Memorial Award - Will Jaroszewicz; the Sarah Bechtold Memorial Award - Rob Becker; the Caroline McKay Memorial Award - Emma Goold; the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award - Kasey Schumacher and Austin Trout; Class of 2012 Athletes of the Year - Elizabeth Heinbach and Mack Rice.   Congratulations to the Class of 2012!  Please click here for the list of Scholar Athletes and Tomahawk Award Recipients.
 

IH Athletic Training

Terri Konte has been the Athletic Trainer for our District since 1990 (Head Athletic Trainer since 1996).  She is employed by Beacon Orthopedics.  In addition to Terri, Dr. Tim Kremchek, Indian Hill's Orthopaedic physician, provides care for Indian Hill athletes.  This team provides a complete range of sports medical services, including injury prevention and care, physician referral, medical imaging, diagnosis and rehabilitation.  Follow this link for contact information and directions to Beacon Orthopaedics.

About Certified Athletic Trainers

The certified athletic trainer is a highly educated healthcare professional skilled in the prevention, recognitions, management, and rehabilitation of injuries that result from physical activity.  Specifically, the ATC specializes in five practice areas or domains:

  • Prevention of athletic injuries
  • Recognition, evaluation and immediate care of athletic injuries
  • Rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries
  • Healthcare administration
  • Professional development

The ATC functions as an integral member of the healthcare team.  The certified athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation with other health care professionals, athletic administrators, coaches and parents.  Each certified athletic trainer has fulfilled the requirements for certification established by the National Athletic Association Board of Certification, Inc.  He/she must also be licensed by the state through the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board.

About Dr. Kremchek

Timothy E. Kremchek, M.D. serves as the Cincinnati Reds Medical Director and Chief Orthopaedic Physician.   A native of Cincinnati, Dr. Kremchek returned here and began private practice in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in 1993.  A 1986 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Kremchek completed his orthopaedic residency at Tufts University in Boston, Ma.  In 1993, he completed a one year Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Alabama Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham AL. under the direction of Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Lawrence Lemak. Dr. Kremchek is the orthopaedist for Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH.  Dr. Kremchek serves as an orthopaedic consultant for the Washington Nationals MLB team and the Florence Freedom, Frontier League Baseball team. Dr. Kremchek’s professional interests range from advanced arthroscopic repair of the shoulder and knee injuries to total joint reconstructions and joint replacements.  He has taken an active role in teaching orthopaedics and sports medicine, which has enabled him to be published in professional journals regarding orthopaedics and sports medicine.  Dr. Kremchek has been featured on HBO’s Real Sports program regarding youth baseball injuries.  He has also been featured in ESPN Magazine, Sports Illustrated and USA Today regarding other medical health topics.

About Terri Konte, Athletic Trainer

Terri has been an Athletic Trainer for Indian Hill High School since 1990 (Head Athletic Trainer since 1996). A native of Mentor, Ohio, Terri attended the University of Cincinnati where she earned an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training/Health Education and Promotion (1990) and a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology (1994). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Ohio Athletic Trainers Association, a Licensed Athletic Trainer (Ohio), and a Certified Red Cross Instructor in CPR/Sports Safety Training. In addition, Terri serves as an Approved Clinical Instructor for the University of Cincinnati in order to provide high school internship opportunities for local college athletic training students. In her free time, Terri enjoys traveling, being active outdoors, watching the Cleveland Browns (yes, a die-hard fan!) and doing creative activities (painting, sketching, cross-stitch, etc). She has been employed by Beacon Orthopaedics since 2007.

 

Meet AD Jill Bruder

The 2012-2013 school year is Ms. Bruder's tenth year as Athletic Director for Indian Hill High School and Middle School.  Prior to arriving in Cincinnati, she was a teacher, coach and administrator at Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, Illinois for 19 years.  Her undergraduate work was done at Western Michigan University and she has a Masters degree in Education Administration from Northeastern Illinois University.
