Wrestlers Take Home 1st Place Plaques & Placement Medals At Xenia

On December 16, 2017, the Braves scrapped in the Xenia Invitational Tournament and earned two 1st place plaques, and 4 placement medals. The tournament included 15 total teams, and 169 wrestlers was held at Xenia High School. The Braves grapplers finished 6th overall in team rankings against Celina, Cooper, Deer Park, Dunbar, Fairbanks, Fairborn, Madison-Plains, Northwestern, Reynoldsburg, Roger Bacon, Southeastern Local, Summit Country Day, West Jefferson, and Xenia.

Cooper Leszczuk (113 lbs.) and John Mark Williams (182) went undefeated to finish first in their weight classes. Medals went to second place finisher Will Steuerwald (160), fourth placer Dan Sheard (132), and fifth placers Zach Sullivan (106) and Jaden Anderson (138).

Prior to the Xenia tourney, the Braves slipped to 4-3 on the season in dual matches. They used this tournament to rebound from the December 13th narrow loss to Colerain and defeat by Ross at a dual tri-meet.

Up next, the team sponsors Reading and Norwood at home on Wednesday, December 20 for a head-to-head round-robin tri-meet. The matches begin at 6:00 p.m. Then, the Madeira Invitational is on January 5th & 6th. Wrestling starts on the 5th at 5:30 p.m.
