The Madeira Invitational Tournament started on Friday evening and was scheduled to conclude Saturday evening. The 2 day competition drew 24 teams from 3 states.

On Friday, the Braves and other grapplers competed in 1 or 2 matches and anticipated more on Saturday. A couple of Braves had already advanced to the championship rounds scheduled for Saturday afternoon. However, due to a power outage at the very beginning of Saturday, the tournament was stopped.

On December 16, 2017, the Braves scrapped in the Xenia Invitational Tournament and earned two 1st place plaques, and 4 placement medals. The tournament included 15 total teams, and 169 wrestlers was held at Xenia High School. The Braves grapplers finished 6th overall in team rankings against Celina, Cooper, Deer Park, Dunbar, Fairbanks, Fairborn, Madison-Plains, Northwestern, Reynoldsburg, Roger Bacon, Southeastern Local, Summit Country Day, West Jefferson, and Xenia.

The Braves’ trophy collection expanded when the team started the season at the 12 team Walton-Verona Bearcat tournament and earned second place. The December 2nd duals tournament format pitted the grapplers against some of the finest teams in Kentucky. They outpointed opponents in their pool from Cooper and Newport High Schools, as well as a Kentucky All Stars Team. The bronze statute they received from this tournament is one testament to offseason work and grit.
