Lady Braves Field Hockey played their first game  on Thursday August 24th, at home, against Oakwood. The LumberJills showed up ready to play.  While it was a close game the Braves lost 0-1.  The battles were great to watch.

It was a show of great sportsmanship and teamwork from both teams. The Braves played a great game and showed they are no stranger to the game.

INDIAN HILL - Though they have the distinction as the only team at Indian Hill High School that competes in plaid, the Lady Braves field hockey team would like to earn attention in other ways.

They were seventh in the Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League in 2015 and bowed out of the OHSAA tournament in late October with a 6-1 loss to traditional field hockey power Mount Notre Dame.

Leading the way for coach Tara Rose are senior captains Robin Schumacher and Bailey Bathalter, plus junior captains Georgia Kennedy and Shannon McCormick.

INDIAN HILL – After meeting Mount Notre Dame to begin the month, the Indian Hill High School field hockey team grappled with the Cougars again on Oct. 21. Unfortunately, it came in a postseason tournament game with MND prevailing, 6-1.

Though a loss, the highlight for Indian Hill was senior Natalie More scoring. It was the first time the Lady Braves had scored against MND in recent memory.

Trying to change memories for the squad are coaches Tara Rose and Pamela Angel. Both played for Indian Hill in 1993 when the Lady Braves made it to the state semifinals in the sport.

The coach in those days was Vera Hamm. This staff would like to develop the consistency those teams had.

“We can only go up,” Rose said. “We started a couple years ago and lost 12-13 seniors. We kind of haven’t recuperated from that yet. We’ve had just one team the last two years because of that.”
